1) What is the difference between consulting and coaching?

Consulting is an engagement whereby a party offers a solution to a problem or issue in exchange for compensation.

Coaching is defined by the International Coaching Federation as a partnership between the coach and the client in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize their personal and professional potential.

Through Executive Balance we offer both consulting and coaching depending upon the needs of the clients--sometimes both!

2) Is your coaching practice limited to only Executives?

Not at all! The skills I acquired through my IFC certification training apply to all kinds of people, professions and personal situations. I have extensive experience as a former executive however coaching is really for anyone who is “stuck” or looking for a partner to help them reach that next level of self improvement.

3) What is your experience with M&A?

For 7 years I developed Independent Risk Assessments of potential acquisition targets for BB&T. Targets ranged from financial institutions/banks, to asset management and broker/dealers to insurance companies. Assessments included current state analysis and proforma risk appetite analysis.

4) What is your experience with Private Equity?

I served on the advisory board of Five Points Capital for 7 years as the Risk Executive. In this role, I provided effective challenge to new and renewing investments in the small-middle PE markets.

5) For Executive Coaching, what kinds of personal assessments do you recommend or use?

Energy Leadership certified (expected summer 2021)

EQ-I 2.0

6) Are your fees the same for Consulting and Executive coaching?

Great question! Actually, No. That’s because the majority of my consulting work is project-based and often requires 50 hours per week during the assignment. Executive Coaching, on the other hand, is more process-oriented and deliberative. Coaching is billed on an hourly basis.

7) Please help me understand how coaching is different from some other similar personal services.

Coaching is not therapy, counseling, mentoring, sports coaching, friendship. Each of these certainly add tremendous value to relationships and are necessary for a well balanced life. By focusing on performance improvement, learning and development in certain areas of life, Coaching helps the client move forward by focusing on the “how”.

8) What sets Executive Balance coaching apart from other coaching firms?

My background and experience is very different from most coaches. I evolved my career from a quantitative technician (bond trader) into management and leadership. I’ve been through and experienced many of the situations clients find themselves in right now. Coupled with intense coach training from iPEC, I bring a complete package with full perspective to help clients.

9) distinctio vitae. Pharetra potenti maecenas etiam at?

Aptent distinctio vitae. Pharetra natoque assumenda, potenti maecenas etiam at! Minima id curae, quis nostrud recusandae incidunt, anim laboris mauris consectetuer? Commodo totam! Magna fugit dolorum dapibus anim, ridiculus placerat. Magnis condimentum cum sapien class nihil. Totam quam laboris adipiscing corporis placeat fames, distinctio, nunc rerum eius consectetuer. Omnis ullamcorper vero impedit taciti ornare nulla in nulla! Ipsam? Mauris habitasse.

10) Where did the name Executive Balance come from?

Executive Balance emerged as a representation of the personal balance I was seeking and my desire to share my gifts and experience with others.  Through my coaching and consulting I can help busy executives find that balance in their professional and personal lives to be better at both!  From that idea sprung the tagline of helping financial executives balance purpose, profits and people.

This idea paralleled the balance I am attaining in my personal life in this second career--finding that balance between family life, community volunteerism and my professional work.
